Quality Control Floor Inspector 

Slidematic Products is seeking a QUALITY CONTROL FLOOR INSPECTOR to ensure our customers’ requirements are being met. Q.C. floor inspectors will perform inspections on products and record the results on Production Logs. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented candidate that has had prior experience in manufacturing. A successful Quality Control Floor Inspector will be proficient with measuring techniques and blueprint reading. Q.C. floor inspector will help with operator training of parts and help with movement of product as needed. Needs to be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to Quality Manager.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspect / measure products being produced

  • Document inspection results and quantities inspected on Production Logs

  • Visual inspection of parts for any defects, burrs and surface finishes

  • Interpret inspection results to ensure no non-conformances are released

  • Quarantine any non-conforming/suspect parts/material

  • Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications

  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards

  • Ensure all documents and records are complete and compliant to procedures

  • Train operators on part requirements

  • Some overtime and/or Saturday shifts may be required as needed.

  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in inspection in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to read blueprints ensuring that parts meet quality standards

  • Good communication and organization skills

  • Be able to stand for long periods at a time

  • Have knowledge of basic Math skills

  • Understanding of mechanical inspection "hands-on" such as calipers, micrometers, comparators, height gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, feeler gauges, etc.

  • Lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Use a pallet jack and dolly

Machine Operator 

Slidematic Products is seeking a Machine Operator to ensure our customers’ requirements are being met. Machine operators will perform inspections on products and record the results on Production Logs. Machine operators also needs to be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and must be able to multi-task. This position reports directly to Production Supervisor.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspect / measure products during production runs using inspection tools

  • Document inspection results and quantities inspected on Production Logs

Tool Design Engineer

Slidematic Products Company founded in the Chicago area in 1946. We are a Contract Manufacturer, specializing in Four Slide/Multi-Slide Stampings, Wire Forms, Semi or Fully Automated Assemblies and Secondary Operations. Slidematic Products team consist of professional Design Engineers, Tool and Die Makers and supporting technical staff who focuses on customer needs. Responsibilities:

  • Create complete designs for manufacture of slide forming tooling, progressive stamping dies, assembly automations.

  • Troubleshoot/optimize production tools.

  • Good knowledge of cad systems: SolidEdge ( preferred),Solidworks, Autocad, etc.

  • Job estimating and quoting

  • Participate in design reviews, component reviews, and APQP with customers.

  • Communicate directly with customer engineering and purchasing during the quote and design phases.

  • Understand and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Work with quality and production department to improve process and production performance

  • Work with quality and production departments to implement 5S

  • Assist in material review/corrective actions

  • Maintain and updated production-related performance records.

  • Tool and die bench experience helpful

  • Spanish language skills helpful

  • Must be highly computer literate.

  • Be Organized, self-directed and creative

General Office (Customer Service and Shipping)

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Sales Orders – Maintain the accuracy of all customer orders received, including accurate data entry, reviewing and proofing anticipated delivery dates along with validating inventory quantities to set realistic expectations for customer orders.  Communicate with production.

  • Customer communications – maintain a timely response to all customer inquiries

  • Purchase Orders – assist the office manager in ordering miscellaneous non-inventory related items required for the office, shop, kitchen, and vending, etc.

  • Accounts payable: Maintaining and entering all invoices received, General Ledger Coding, prepare all documents, including the three-way match process, i.e. purchase order, packing slip and invoice pricing for payment processing. Customer website billing.

  • Shipping Clerk: Processing picklist for shipment. Ensuring the accuracy of all shipments, including all related document, i.e., packing slips, Bill of Lading, Certifications and Commercial Invoices

  • Receiving Inventory - This will include properly receiving all inventory into MIE Trak will all required fields completed. 

  • General Office responsibilities: Filing, assisting with projects

Tool Maker
In this role you will build and maintain tooling for punch press dies, multislide/fourslide tooling, as well as assembly automation components.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties to repair, modify and troubleshoot existing punch press and fourslide/multi-slide dies to maintain part quality and production standards. Tryout and debug new dies, work from die design, prints, shop orders, sample parts, and handbook formulas, and in accordance with standard operating procedures and policies.

  • Plan die repair needs, troubleshoot dies in production to analyze nature of problem and required corrective action.

  • Disassemble dies, check for worn or broken blocks, perforators, springs, punches, and die sections.

  • Machine new components as needed, reassemble dies, tryout and make adjustments to meet part dimensions.

  • Assists in general upkeep of tool room and its equipment.

  • Work from blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.

  • Manufacture components to a tight tolerance and inspect finished dies for timing accuracy and defects. Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.

  • Efficiently debugging tooling in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Work with Tool Design Engineers to ensure tooling manufacturability.

  • Train apprentices or subordinates in the use of Toolroom equipment, blueprint reading, and use of required measuring tools.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma

  • Journeyman Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent work experience.

  • Basic AutoCAD skills

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with reading blueprints.

  • Understanding of the use of all Toolroom equipment and machinery.

  • Maintain the department/ work area clean and organized.

  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools such as drill press, lathes, milling machines, grinders, Mazak VMC, Makino wire EDM to make all types of tooling components.

  • Study blueprints, sketches, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies or assemblies.

  • Machine and assemble progressive and multi-slide dies.

  • Conduct test runs with completed tooling or dies to ensure that production parts will meet specifications.

  • Fit and assemble parts to make repairs or modify dies.

  • Think outside the box in continuous improvement ideas as well problem solving.
